Enclosed Plant Key to Location
Ammann ABP Universal Meets Strict Environmental Requirements
An Ammann ABP Universal Asphalt-Mixing Plant is able to meet strict sound and emissions requirements – and ultimately to help a Singapore business location a play in a key area of Singapore.
“We have to meet all the environmental requirements for the emissions and noise,” said Elvin Koh Oon Bin, the CEO of United E & P Pte. Ltd. “It’s definitely helped my business because if I cannot meet the requirements, I can’t put a plant there.”
The plant is fully enclosed, including its 350m3 storage silo. “It’s a nice factory – very clean and quiet,” Koh Oon Bin said.
The premium plant meets the guidelines, enabling placement of a plant in the bustling Jurong region, which is central to United E & P’s customers and projects.
Additional plant features make it a perfect fit for Koh Oon Bin’s quality, productivity and fuel-efficiency needs.
“We chose this ABP Universal plant because I need its capacity to supply service to my customers,” Koh Oon Bin said. “We are doing work for a private contractor and also on a government project. We are doing the whole Singapore expressway and about 400,000 tonnes of volume, so this is quite a nice project for us.
“This Ammann Universal premium plant is fully equipped with all the features. It can produce a normal mix. We can also do warm mix. We can do recycling and also all the special mixes needed in Singapore.”
Fuel Efficiency
The plant features a variety of fuel-efficiency efforts. Among them is the proprietary as1 Control System, which utilises technologically advanced software to ensure efficient fuel usage.
Aggregates are delivered by lorry to an underground bin. They remain sheltered while distributed to specific silos. Those protective efforts also pay dividends when it comes to fuel burn.
“The system is fully covered,” Koh Oon Bin said. “Materials are protected from the rain.” That means it’s not necessary to dry the materials before using, which saves fuel.
“The fuel efficiency is very good,” Koh Oon Bin said. “I think we are running 6 litres per ton. I consider that very good. This is why I chose an Ammann plant.
“I am very happy with the Ammann plant. It’s a quality product and it gives us a very good quality mix.”
