Asphalt Plants
Core process steps

Drying & heating. Aggregates pass through a high-efficiency counterflow dryer, where moisture is removed and
material is brought to the target temperature.Weighing & dosing. Load cells ensure precise measurement of each constituent, guaranteeing mix accuracy.
Mixing. In a pugmill mixer (batch plants) or a continuous drum mixer, aggregates are blended with
bitumen, filler, and additives.Storage & load-out. Final hot mix asphalt is discharged into insulated silos or directly to trucks for being transported to the final paving phase
All Ammann plants are operated via the as1 Control System, which integrates real-time sensors
and closed-loop feedback to optimise fuel and power consumption while ensuring consistent mix
quality. Environmental modules—such as baghouse filters, Blue Smoke Treatment, Ammann
Foam, and noise insulation—support compliance with the world’s most demanding air-quality
regulations.

Ammann burners support alternative fuels with low emissions, and modular add-ons allow plants to grow with customer needs. Additional solutions such as high RAP recycling systems, warm-mix asphalt technologies, noise reduction, zero-waste features, and state-of-the-art emission control further reduce environmental impact. Together, these innovations deliver efficiency, reliability, and a sustainable future for asphalt production.
Sustainability in Action
Recycling integration (RAP)
Ammann plants are engineered to incorporate high percentages of recycled asphalt (even up to 100%) into new mixes, reducing the need for virgin materials and supporting circular economy goals.
Energy savings
Counterflow drying, ADX technology, variable-frequency drives, and advanced automation combine to lower fuel consumption and optimise energy use, ensuring cost efficiency and environmental responsibility.
Emission control
High-efficiency baghouse filters capture more than 99.8 % of particulates. Additional odor and VOC-reduction systems keep production sites clean, compliant, and community-friendly.
Alternative fuels
Ammann burners support a wide range of sustainable fuels, including hydrogen, wood dust, biooil, LPG, and other CO₂-neutral options, enabling flexible and future-ready plant operation.

Asphalt plant FAQs
Selecting and operating an asphalt plant involves many considerations, from installation and capacity to sustainability and support. The following FAQs address common questions and provide clear guidance for decision-makers and operators.
Mobile and modular plants are designed for rapid installation thanks to pre-assembled components. Stationary plants require longer due to civil works and utilities.
Ammann plants are available in a wide range of outputs to meet both municipal and large-scale infrastructure requirements.
Yes—plants are engineered to integrate high levels of recycled asphalt while maintaining quality.
All Ammann plants comply with international environmental standards, with optional low emission packages for stricter regulations.
Batch plants switch recipes in minutes; continuous plants can adjust with dual feed systems or short purges.
Global 24/7 hotline for technical support, training, maintenance and service support
Yes. Ammann plants are designed with modular options, so capacities, layouts, and control packages can be tailored to your production goals, site conditions, and regulatory requirements. Retrofit solutions can also update existing plants without a full replacement.
Plan routine inspections and preventive tasks based on operating hours and seasons. Prioritize lubrication, wear-part checks, calibration, filter and belt inspections, and timely software/controls updates. A documented maintenance schedule and trained personnel are the best safeguards against unplanned downtime.
Yes. Ammann provides OEM parts through a global support network. You can identify required items, confirm availability, and arrange delivery with assistance from local service teams—helping you minimize stoppages and maintain product quality.
Ammann focuses on energy efficiency, material reuse, and emissions control. Plants can be configured to reduce fuel consumption, enable reclaimed asphalt use, support lower-temperature mixes, and integrate appropriate filtration and abatement systems—always aligned with local regulations and project goals.
