Ammann Showcases Next-Generation Roadbuilding Solutions at SMOPYC 2026

Loading...

Ammann’s advanced construction machines and asphalt-mixing plants will be featured at SMOPYC 2026, to be held 15-18 April in Feria de Zaragoza, Spain.

Ammann, a global leader in the roadbuilding industry, will be in Hall 8 at stand G-I/28 39.  SMOPYC is a key gathering for the public works and construction sectors.

PAVING

ABG Pavers

Standing out among Ammann products will be the ABG 7820, which delivers the ultimate in paving productivity. A powerful engine, high-capacity hopper and wide width ensure this paver can tackle the big jobs. The machine can place mats as thick as 300 mm (11.8 in) and as wide as 11 metres (36 ft).

The durable paver combines control with productivity-enhancing features. It furnishes industry-leading quality, shift after shift, through intuitive controls, superb screed technology and unparalleled visibility.

VDTA-V Screed

At the stand will be the newly developed and patented VDTA-V Adjustable Double Tamper Screed, which is designed to tackle the most persistent challenges of modern paving: curves, varying layer thicknesses, short compaction windows, and the growing demand for sustainable, efficient construction.

For the first time, the tamper stroke can be continuously adjusted during paving, independently for each screed section, giving operators time and unprecedented control and precision.

Operators can adjust the stroke of the front tamper at any time, with each screed segment and extension controlled individually from 0.5 to 10 millimeters. This makes a significant difference in curves and roundabouts, where inner lanes require less compaction, and outer lanes need more. Previously, adjustments required stopping the machine and making manual changes, costing time, disrupting the flow and reducing efficiency. With the VDTA-V, a simple push of a button is enough.

VB 79 Single Tamper Variomatic Screed

This single-tamper screed, with a width of 2.5m-9m, is perfect when working with special crown profiles. It utilizes multiple articulated sections that are adjustable upwards or downwards by 10% (5.7°). Ultimately, the screeds enable paving irregular profiles with greater ease, reduced material waste and at a lower cost.

VDT-V 79 Double Tamper Variomatic Screed

ABG also offers a double-tamper screed that makes it easy to pave thick mats with irregular profiles. The VDT-V 79’s double tamper technology delivers a 5-7% higher degree of compaction and can achieve up to 98% pre-compaction behind the screed. The screed also leaves behind a smoother surface thanks to the feeding effect of the first tamper. Like the single-tamper ABG screed, the VDT-V 79 utilizes multiple articulated sections that can be adjusted upwards or downwards by 10% (5.7°) when working with irregular profiles.

COMPACTING

Ammann ARS Soil Compactors

The single-drum ARS rollers are distinguished by their axle-free design, providing them with a lower centre of gravity, enhanced stability and superior traction in challenging conditions.

The product range spans from the three-ton ARS 30 model to the ARS 50, ARS 70, ARS 110, ARS 130, ARS 150, ARS 170, ARS 200 and the 25-ton class ARS 220. These compactors are powered by EU Stage V-compliant engines, renowned for their exceptional fuel efficiency.

Ammann ARP and ARX Tandem Rollers

For asphalt compaction, Ammann will showcase its range of pivot-steer rollers – including the ARP 75 and ARP 95 models that deliver maximum control, finish and efficiency. Visitors to the stand will also be able to review the ARX 90-2, ARX 110-2, ARX 140 and ARS 160 articulated rollers.

ARW 65-S Walk-Behind Roller

An innovative pivoting mechanism enables this roller to move forward, backward and laterally – a unique and significant advantage. Body weight is not required to direct the machine, which prevents operator fatigue, eliminates surface irregularities and provides consistency. The roller also combines two applications in a single machine. The operator can quickly switch amplitudes to match the machine for gravel/soil or for asphalt.

ASPHALT PRODUCTION

ABC SolidBatch Asphalt-Mixing Plant

The ABC SolidBatch is a high-production plant that requires a low initial investment. The plant can use up to 40% cold RAP in the mixer. Another option is the brand-new RAH35 dryer, which has a recycling ring for up to 35% RAP. When combined, both technologies can push rap utilisation up to 50%, positioning this plant as a highly sustainable, advanced product.

The plant is intended for customers who need to deliver results under tight deadlines. It provides value through its unique, compact format and advanced drying and filtration. With the lowest cost of ownership, ABC SolidBatch represents the best value on the market. It also can be easily retrofitted with the latest Ammann technologies. Outputs range from 100 tonnes to 340 tonnes per hour, ensuring customers have the production that meets their needs.

RAH35 Drying Drum

The RAH35, with its cutting-edge recycling technology, is the latest innovation introduced by Ammann for its classic plants. The RAH35 is a counterflow dryer featuring a special recycling ring that can incorporate up to 35% RAP, or even more. The dryer can be equipped on any plant and requires a minimal investment.

The unique ring enables the introduction of RAP into the most suitable area of the cylinder, after the combustion chamber and far from the high temperature of the flame. The RAH35’s innovative design ensures the efficient mixing and homogenisation of the RAP and aggregates. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions, while also protecting the RAP from overheating.

RAH50 2nd-Gen Drying Drum

The second-generation RAH50 is the most high-tech counterflow dryer in the Ammann lineup. RAP enters through a middle ring in the dryer drum, which is equipped with a series of channels that control the flow and protect the RAP from high temperatures. The RAP is gently heated when it is mixed with hot virgin aggregate. The mixture enters the annular chamber, which is an advanced, patented component designed to minimise VOC emissions to less than 50 mg/Nm³. The temperature is increased slowly, and the annular chamber protects the newly combined mix from the flame.

This patented process:

  • Prevents burning of the bitumen.

  • Reduces emissions.

  • Precludes interruption of the burner’s combustion.

  • Eliminates steam in the hot elevator.

Ammann experts will be on hand throughout SMOPYC 2026 to help customers identify the right solutions for their operations.
