Ammann Soil Compactors Prepare Base of Indonesian Toll Road
Ammann compactors readied the soil base for an extensive section of a high-profile road in Indonesia.
Five Ammann ASC 100 Soil Compactors, and one Ammann ARS 122 Soil Compactor, provided site preparation work for a 150-km stretch of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road – one of the largest infrastructure projects in the history of Indonesia.
The multi-year Trans-Sumatra Toll Road runs along the east side of the island of Sumatra – from Aceh in the north to Lampung in the south. PT Subur Sedaya Maju, based in Palembang, South Sumatra, handled the road base preparation.
Work on other sections of the road is ongoing, with the rollers likely to play a role in that soil preparation as well. In addition, the compactors have shown their versatility by maintaining an access road to facilities for oil, gas and coal.
“The machines are good and easy to maintain,” said Suhandi Tengganus, director of PT Subur Sedaya Maju.
The company reported exceptional fuel savings and noted that the tyres of the compactors proved extremely durable.
When completed, the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road is expected to be more than 2800 km long. Portions of the road are already operational.
