Adaptable ACR Rammer from Ammann

Adaptable ACR Rammer from Ammann

Categories: LIGHT EQUIPMENT

User-friendly from hand to foot

Convenience and ease of handling are what separate outstanding vibratory rammers from those that are merely good. The ACR 60 and 68 rammers from Ammann are ideally suited to handling different tasks and multiple operators. Particular attention was paid to the guide grip and rammer body that make the machine height-adjustable. Innovations for 2016 include: a throttle with a switch-on/switch-off function that replaces the petrol tap; optimised damping materials that reduce hand-arm vibrations; and a triple filter that further improves emission values.

Compaction work in narrow trenches or close to walls typically restricts the view around the machine and the operator’s manoeuvrability. The guide grip on Ammann ACR rammers has an especially open design to overcome these challenges. The operator can see the position of the foot from above at any time and accurately steer the machine. A shortened grip accessible from all sides gives him full control over the machine. He can turn the rammer by 180 degrees – even in tight conditions in trenches and ditches – skilfully avoiding obstacles along the way. The new throttle makes stopping and starting the machine easy if an obstacle in its path has to be removed by hand. The throttle replaces the petrol tap and also regulates the engine speed. Additionally, elastic grip bearings reduce the rammer’s hand-arm vibration to less than 7 m/s2. This contributes toward the operator’s health and also prevents early fatigue during operation.

Always at the ideal working height …

The working height is individually adjustable to accommodate changes in working conditions or a change of operator. Minor corrections to the working height can be made during operation via the adjustable grip. This can be helpful, for instance, if the operator encounters different inclines when compacting trenches in landscape gardening. Changing the construction height of the rammer body provides even more room for manoeuvre. It can be shortened by up to 10 cm on request at the factory by way of a patented adapter. This makes the rammer fully prepared for any task.

… with the right foot

The ACR 60 and 68 are equipped as standard with a 280 mm wide and 340 mm long foot. Its service life can be extended by way of optional steel wear protection. Six additional design variants are available for adjusting the width to the requirements of the application. Four bolts make foot replacement quick and easy. An operator working in confined spaces _ for instance, in ditch and trench compaction _ can switch to the narrowest working width of 165 mm. By contrast, he can choose the 400 mm wide variant if he wants to maximise surface coverage. A 340 mm wide asymmetric foot is also available for working alongside obstacles. The operator can use the foot to compact substrate next to walls and curbs without having to incline the machine. Depending on the foot, the rammers can therefore achieve a considerable surface coverage of 325 m2 per hour with a compaction depth of up to 50 cm on non-cohesive substrates.

For low-emission work

Engines that are both environmentally friendly and user-friendly power the 60 and 68 kg rammers from Ammann. The GXR 120 four-stroke petrol engine from Honda meets the requirements of the Euro-2 Directive thanks to its particularly clean combustion and can be used around the world. It even enables compaction work in trenches and buildings with poor air circulation. The low emission values benefit the health of the machine operator. The self-cleaning air filter is supplemented by a filter situated upstream from the engine. An optional cyclone separator can also be fitted. This filters larger particles from the air upstream and contributes to a longer service life of the air filter even under arduous working conditions.
