DESIGNING COMPACTORS TO PUSH PROFIT
Two businesses based in the Edmonton area of Alberta, Canada, say that Ammann light equipment’s intuitive operation provides a benefit that all contractors want: improved profitability.
“The machines help to make our business very profitable by the fact they’re a lot easier to use,” said Paul Matera, equipment manager at M.A.P. Group of Companies, which specialises in underground utilities.
The intuitive nature of maintenance – for both light equipment and light compactors – drew the attention of Robert Armstrong, equipment superintendent at Answer Asphalt & General Contracting Ltd.
“I like the durability of these small compaction machines as well as their ease of use and maintenance,” he said.
Armstrong also pointed out that the practical design elements on Ammann light equipment – providing wheels and a lifting handle – makes many compaction efforts a one-person job, which reduces labor costs.
