LANGENTHAL, Switzerland – Ammann announces the release of the ARP 95 Pivot-Steer Roller, featuring the widest working width of any comparable compactor on the market and providing fuel cost reductions an average of 25 per cent.
The redesigned machine frame enables the drums to be offset 1390 mm (4.6 ft.) on each side, compared to the previous version’s 1350 mm (4.4 ft.). The result is compaction width capability of 3070 mm (10 ft.), making the ARP 95 the market leader.
“The ARP 95 is another example of Ammann introducing innovative products that help our customers succeed,” said Josef Dementěv, Ammann´s Product Specialist. “The compactor’s additional width means the machine can cover a larger surface area with each pass. The result is significant savings in time and costs on jobsites.”
Reduced fuel expenses are another key benefit. The compactor is powered by a Deutz EU Stage V / US EPA Tier 4 Final engine, featuring improved software and other efficiencies that lower fuel costs as much as 25 per cent when compared to the previous generation.
The compactor is suitable for large and mid-sized construction sites, including roads of varied sizes, motorways, airfields and industrial zones. It performs well on asphalt bases, binder and wearing layers.
The machine is based on a pivot-steering concept. Split drums are connected to the frame by two independent pivots, enhancing steering angles and improving manoeuvrability. turning radius is 3065 mm (10 ft.), and the outer turning radius is 4785 mm (15.7 ft.).
An improved vibratory system features two independent vibratory pumps – one for each drum. High compaction performance is achieved through the heavy-duty, two-stage vibratory system. Amplitude and frequency are easily adjusted by selecting the rotational direction of the vibratory shaft. Variable frequencies range from 38-42 Hz at high amplitude and 42-52 Hz at low amplitude.
The operator’s cab is spacious, comfortable and quiet, with inside sound limited to 72 dB.
ROPS is integrated into the cab, which is designed to maximise visibility of the drum surfaces, edges and spraying bars. Objects are visible to the operator beyond a 1-metre-by-1-metre area both in front and in back of the machine. Visibility of the drum edges is improved by the operator’s seat, which can rotate 270º and slide beyond the machine’s contour.
Operation is effortless, thanks to fingertip steering. Control switches are mounted on the ergonomic armrest.
The multi-functional display is conveniently located directly in front of the operator. The main display has three screens: for machine operation and performance; for other key machine data; and for onboard diagnostics.
The compactor is equipped with a loading mode feature, which helps new operators properly control the machine. This function is activated at ignition. It automatically engages a traction control system, limits the maximum speed to 3 km per hour (1.9 miles per hour) and disables vibration.
