Ammann Tandem Roller Brings High Power, Low Fuel Consumption
ARX 90.2 Productive in Multiple Applications
A new tandem roller from Ammann delivers high production through a unique combination of drum dimensions, frequencies, amplitudes, and an advanced propulsion system.
The Ammann ARX 90.2 Articulated Heavy Tandem Roller, in the 9-tonne weight class, also features the Ashok Leyland H4C47422 engine, which is CEV Stage V compliant.
“This machine is designed to quickly compact loose sub-base materials, such as gravel, as well as asphalt – including thick lifts,” said Mr. Syed Irshad Ahmed, Product Manager, Ammann India.
“Crews reach compaction goals in minimal passes, which lowers operating costs.”
Reduced fuel consumption
Optimised power and hydraulic systems minimise fuel usage. Consumption is among the lowest in the roller’s weight category.
Proving productive
The ARX 90.2 provides one of the highest compaction outputs in its weight range. Maximum working speed is 7 km/h and maximum travel speed is 12 km/h. It offers gradeability up to 35% while vibrating. A large water tank (1000 liters) minimises the need for refills.
A powerful vibratory system with two amplitudes and two frequencies helps match the machine to the jobsite. Amplitude and frequency are easy to adjust, and high dynamic impact ensures deep compaction.
Smooth surfaces
The machine’s propulsion system is unique to the market. It utilizes an efficient hydraulic system, traction control and speed sensors. This enables smooth starts and stops that improve mat quality.
The ARX 90.2 also has higher frequency and amplitude ranges that help the machine successfully compact thicker lifts in fewer passes.
Operator friendly
The clear dashboard layout ensures safe, productive operation. The engine compartment design forces hot air toward the rear of the machine and away from the operator. Four shock mounts isolate the operator platform from vibration. A foldable sunroof canopy is standard.
The rear engine placement helps drive vibration away from the operator and toward the compaction target. It also improves visibility and redirects heat from the operator, thereby increasing comfort.
Ready for any jobsite
Rugged tires, with 12-ply rating, provide traction in all conditions. Varied amplitude settings make the ARX 90.2 suitable for multiple applications including Formula 1 roadways, bituminous concrete and dense bituminous macadam.
The rollers also are seen on jobsites such as national and state highways, city and municipal roads, PMGSY (urban-rural connectivity), airports, mining haul roads, dam embankments, industrial developments, ports, smart cities, power and steel plant infrastructure, and others.
Serviceability
Service and maintenance points are reachable from the ground for quick, easy upkeep. The platform and engine hood are tiltable. Drum bearings are self-lubricating.
